A return to league action for the Dolphins as Graham Kemp brought his unbeaten Christchurch side to Tatnam for this Wessex League match. Just the one change for Poole Town as Kevin Gill made his first full start of the season in place of Trefor Smith.

The biggest win of the season so far for Poole and yet probably the most disappointing display in many ways. The perfect start though for Poole as they took the lead in only the second minute. Bailey-Pearce produced a piece of magic on the left and his deep cross found Taffy Richardson. His shot was deflected against the post and after a scramble Charlie Austin continued his fine scoring form by prodding the ball over the line.

FOr the first ten minutes Poole looked really good and a much bigger scoreline looked on the cards. On 7 minutes a Christchurch defender allowed the ball under his foot and Bailey-Pearce was away on the left. His shot turned more into a cross as it fizzed across the area and Stuart Brown met the ball to place it past the keeper. Celebrations turned to disappointment as Brown was ruled offside and the goal didn't count.

From this point on Christchurch really came into the game and some sustained pressure saw them earn three consecutive corners. From these one shot hit the Poole post and Gareth Barnes had a header go wide. It was the first time this season that the Poole defence had been under any sort of pressure and they got through it....... just. A few minutes later and Harvell was called into action as he pushed out a fierce shot and luckily for Poole it rebounded off a striker's knee and went wide of the post.

For much of the rest of the half it was Christchurch who looked by far the better side but Poole defended well when required to preserve their two goal lead. Pretty much against the run of play it was Poole however who scored the all important next goal. A Mickey Hubbard corner on 35 minutes was met with a superb glancing header from Charlie Austin and Kearns in the Christchurch goal had no chance. Four from four now for Austin.

Five minutes later and the whole nature of the game changed. Gareth Barnes caught Hubbard in the face with an elbow and the referee produced a straight red card and Barnes was off. Two goals down and down to ten men meant that the result of the game was no longer in doubt.

Half time: 2-0.

Austin's persistent injury meant that he was replaced by Steve Smith for the second half.
Poole looked more in control for the first period of the second half. On 54 minutes the Christchurch keeper rolled the ball out to a defender already under pressure from a few Poole players. The ball got knocked back towards goal and Steve Smith beat the keeper to it and prodded the ball towards goal. Heading in the spin eventually took the ball sideways and it came back off the bottom of the post and was cleared away. Three minutes later and Stuart Brown was tugged down just outside the box. The resulting freekick was saved well by Kearns and a follow up shot also fell straight into the keeper's arms.

On 61 minutes Poole scored the final goal of the game. Bailey-Pearce sent Steve Smith away down the left. After controlling the ball he sent in a perfect cross to the far post and Kevin Gill came sliding in to bury the ball into the net.

The last 20 minutes was very disappointing from Poole. With a three goal advantage and an extra player they contrived to give the ball away far too cheaply and they really made hard work of the game. Credit to Christchurch who never gave up the cause - they certainly look a better side under Kemp this season.
