Poole's biggest crowd of the season (277) so far turned up on the Bank Holiday evening to see the unbeaten Dolphins take on Bournemouth Poppies under the lights of Tatnam. Charlie Austin returned to the starting line-up with Stuart Brown dropping to the bench.

With Poppies having been beaten 8-0 just two days before it was important that Poole got off to a quick start and an early goal would ensure that the visitor's confidence would take another major hit. Poole achieved this with a goal after just six minutes. Hubbard swung a corner into the near post and Austin flicked a header on to the back post. Lamin Dibba rose to head towards goal but when the keeper saved the header, the ball dropped to Dibba again and he hooked it home from close range.

Two minutes later and it looked as though Poole would double their lead. Hubbard provided another great cross to the far post and Taffy Richardson met the ball but scooped it just over. Poole were really going for it at this stage and a few minutes later they scored again. Poole broke quickly and put some pressure on the Poppies defence. On 12 minutes Taffy Richardson was involved again and he fed the ball to Gill. The diminutive winger held the defenders off superbly before laying the ball back to Mickey Hubbard. One touch and he unleashed a screamer from fully 35 yards which flew into the top right corner giving the keeper no chance. It was a great strike.

Bailey-Pearce has threatened goals since the start of the season and he finally netted on 20 minutes. He cut in from the left and with space opening up he accelerated to the edge of the box and hit a sweet right foot shot into the bottom left corner from 20 yards.

Already the game was won and Poole really started to enjoy themselves. Just before half time Gill cut in and hit a left foot shot which was turned around the post. From the resulting corner the ball bounced kindly for Steve Smith but his header went over the bar when a goal looked certain.

Half time: 3-0.

There was to be no let up for Poppies as Poole started the second half in the same manner. On 49 minutes a freekick into the box found the head of Dibba and Charlie Austin got the ball under control before finishing well. 4-0.

On 54 minutes Aaron Skelton made a welcome first appearance of the season as he replaced the very impressive Hubbard in midfield. Within four minutes Poole had scored their fifth. Gill provided the cross this time - and Bailey-Pearce grabbed his brace with a great left foot strike this time into the bottom right hand corner of the net.

Jack Swann and Michael White came on with half hour left to replace Austin and Browne - legs being rested with the FA Cup match on Saturday drawing close. Poole's final goal came on 75 minutes. Aaron Skelton provided the corner and Lamin Dibba again rose well to head home his second of the game.

Poole could have added more as Steve Smith had chances and Jack Swann twice raced clear off the defence but missed two one-on-one chances. Credit to Poppies, they never gave up and on 86 minutes Jason Harvell was called into action when he produced a superb flying save to push the ball away for a corner.
