With just eight league matches remaining Poole were on their travels once again, this time making the trip to Hayling Island in search of another three points. Floyd Hamodu made his league debut for Poole Town and Russell Cooke partnered him upfront. Stuart Brown started wide on the left and Aaron Skelton got the nod ahead of Mickey Hubbard in midfield.

On a small bumpy, terrible pitch, good football was always going to be difficult and Taffy's comment at the start of being happy with a 1-0 win seemed wholly appropriate given the conditions and the first half.

It took until the 14th minute for either side to create a chance. Stu Brown put Hamodu in but the striker just placed his shot wide of the left hand post. The roles were reversed on 26 minutes when a long Harvell freekick was headed on by Hamodu and Stuart Brown lashed home the flick on to give Poole the lead.

Aaron Skelton enjoyed another match where he controlled the midifield and most of Poole's good work came through him. On 35 minutes it was his deft touch which sent Hamodu through but again the final shot just went the wrong side of the goal. A minute later and Dibba sent Brown clear on the left and as the keeper came out Brown's flick with the outside of his right foot just cleared the bar and bounced on the roof of the net. A hard fought half and a slender albeit deserved lead for Poole.

Half time: 0-1.

Skelton had a shot well saved on 51 minutes and he was involved again four minutes later when he sent a fine pass down the left hand side. The useful looking Cooke got the cross in and Hamodu's shot was saved by the keeper before Brown crashed the ball home only to be given offside. The second goal was now just a question of time as the pressure increased. It took just one more minute to arrive. Luke Whitley chipped a neat ball forward, Kevin Gill controlled, turned and fired low past the keeper from the edge of the box and the points were secure.

Two more minutes and Skelton produced the cross of the match perfectly for Stu Brown to head into the corner to make it three and within 60 seconds Brown had completed another great hat-trick for Poole when he headed home from Dibba's long ball. Three goals in three minutes and Poole were cruising.

A triple substitution followed as Hubbard, Steve Smith and Culliford replaced Poore, Brown and Skelton. If Hayling thought this would see Poole easing off then they were wrong as all three substitutes contributed greatly to the last 25 minutes.

A flowing move on 73 minutes saw Hubbard play to Hamodu and he set up Steve Smith for a toe poke into the net. Three minutes later and a Hubbard corner was cleared back out to the youngster. He crossed again and when the ball found it's way across to Culliford he crossed into the near post where Steve Smith headed home his 50th goal for the Dolphins. A terrific achievement in just 99 appearances especially when 54 of those appearances have come from the bench.

The scoring wasn't quite finished and Hubbard added the icing to the cake when he ripped in a fine shot from 25 yards out in injury time.

A workmanlike performance from Poole in the first half but a step up in gear in the second half saw them ease comfortably to victory. Hamodu looked strong and sharp up front - the perfect target player who flicked on numerous times and held the ball up well when he needed to.
